Today was different for me. I saw through the poverty. When i looked past the rusty tin I saw community. I saw Christ's love shining everywhere. Some people ask "can you make a difference?" I say "yes!" How? By getting off your hands. We are touching lives. We have lots of kids 12-13, very close to the age of going to drugs, violence, and sex. They are still kids. They are feeling loved, cherished, special, and worth something. God has blessed us with 156 new testament bibles to give the kids. Through us God is making a difference, where evil spirits, witchcraft, stealing and drugs are more common than christianity.
My walk with God has been amazing. It is personal. God wants to talk to all of us. We must make it a priority for this to happen. I have spent much time in my life questionning my faith. First I had to ask for forgiveness for my sins. Not a quick process for a sinner like me. Reading God's word, one word at a time is key for me. Asking along the way "God, what does this mean for me?" The biggest breakthrough for me is found in 1st Samuel v3 (and then God came and stood before him exactly as before, calling out "Samuel, Samuel." Samuel answered, "Speak! I am your servant ready to listen.")
I haven't been ready to listen. It takes time. I knew God was going to rock my world. and each member of our team has had a similar spiritual journey. One amazing piece of fruit God has given me, was driving into the community center to a group of 5 girls and 2 boys cheering "mister vince! mister vince!" Amazing love.
Father please touch everyone's soul who reads this. Please give them time to make it personal with you. God, my heart cries out to the thought of saying goodbye to Yindra, Adrianna, Angelina, and Nicolas, as well as all the other children we have all gotten to know over this past week. Please give me wisdom and clear communication with them. Thank you for this amazing love you have given us. Please protect them from evil, and keep them close to you. Let me never forget your beautiful children of Guarara'. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
Ciao for now.
